Service Cluster of Ministries

Pat Braun
S.O.S. is a Service Ministry through which hundreds of parishioners, each year, choose one (or more) of over 60 short-term, hands-on activities to help the marginalized, at-risk, hungry and homeless in our greater community.  Helping our brothers and sisters, who lack the most basic human needs, is as easy as SIGNING UP for an activity of your choice and SHOWING UP for that Activity … for just a couple of hours.  Each parishioner is encouraged to participate just once a year, though there is no limit to number of participations!
Activities are offered in 2 ‘strands’ — ADULT Strand and FAMILY Strand — to enable participants to serve alongside people with similar interests and lifestyles.  Participants choose from a wide range of Activities which serve the needy cared for by local, not-for-profit organizations —Bridges, Covenant House, Eva’s Village & NJ Food Bank — as well as the elderly at St. Vincent’s Nursing Home.
S.O.S. is ideal for individuals who are new to Parish Ministry as well as Parish ‘Veterans.’
