SCS offers a weekly Family Mass which presents Liturgy that is meaningful and relevant to young families.  Parishioners with a love of Liturgy and its role in the lives of young families are invited to share in our Ministry.

Family Mass is scheduled on Sundays, 9:15am, in the Lower Church, September through June.

FUNERAL LITURGY
LARRY BROWN
973.239.8765
ljmabrown@verizon.net

When mourning the loss of a loved one, The Funeral Mass is important to help grieving relatives and friends understand God's mercy and love.  Many times, seeing a familiar face brings comfort to the grief-stricken and reminds them that St. Catherine's is a caring, compassionate Parish.

Adults are needed to serve at Funeral Liturgies as Altar Servers, Lectors and Eucharistic Ministers.  Ministers serve, at their convenience, on mornings through the week for an hour and a half, once or twice a month, on average.

The fact that you have never been an altar server previously is not a problem; we will have a brief training session, again at a time of your convenience any day through the week.

GREETERS (ushers, ministers of hospitality)

Worshippers are reminded of the "Welcoming Community" that is St. Catherine's, by the warm greeting of these Ministers.  Our Greeters tend to special needs, assist people to seats before Mass begins, gather the collection, distribute bulletins, and maintain a clean, comfortable environment.

LITURGY of the WORD for CHILDREN
ROSEMARY COUILLOU
973.239.3332
scs_ccd@hotmail.com

During summer, parishioners aged 5 -10 benefit from this special Liturgy during the Sunday, 9:15am Mass.  For eight weeks, our children are led by Leaders of Prayer and Song, from the Upper Church to the Lower Church for age-appropriate Liturgy, comprised of the First Reading, Psalm, Gospel, brief Homily, Creed and Intercessions.  The Readings are presented in a simple fashion and the Homily is a message prepared specifically for this age group.  This is a beautiful, simple way to draw our children into the essence of Liturgy, Prayer and Worship of our God.

Co-Leaders are needed.  They are provided with all the necessary materials and required to participate on Sundays for the eight weeks.

MUSIC MINISTRY
ALBERT GANTER
973.714.6440
AEGanter524@aol.com

St. Catherine's Liturgies, Services and special Presentations are greatly enriched by the voices, music and faith of our Music Ministry.  We are all led to more fervent prayer and worship through their music.  It doesn't matter if you have had voice lessons or you just like to sing in the shower, you are most welcome here!

All kinds of voices are needed for our Choir.  There's a place for everyone.  All that's required is a love and desire to sing or play your instrument … and a commitment to rehearsals; though it is understood that sometimes you are unable to be with us.  So, please give what you can.  We welcome parishioners from high school age to the young at heart.  Our choir ranges in ages from 14 to 90, so all are welcome.  Join us!

"He who sings, prays twice."  ~ St. Augustine
